The Clamcleat® CL244 clamps onto windsurf booms, flag poles and tubes. The high strength alloy cleat fits into the nylon clamp, which is held by 2 screws. A rubber friction packer provides a strong grip on bare metal poles and allows for some variation in tube diameter. Five sizes of clamp are available, to fit tube diameters from 24 - 42mm (15/16" - 1 5/8"Ø).
The CL244/R retail pack is complete with CL244 cleat, CL105 & CL111 clamps, rubber packing pieces and stainless steel screws. (Remember, you need 2 per windsurf boom.)
For manufacturers, separate parts and special colours can be supplied for specific applications. Different thickness of rubber are avaiiable, to cope with tubes from 25mm to 42mm diameter. Please contact us
There are 5 sizes of clamp currently available:-
- CL077 for 75-84mm circumference tubes.
- CL105 for 94-104mm circumference tubes.
- CL111 for 94-104mm circumference tubes.
- CL115 for 94-104mm circumference tubes.
- CL134 for 94-104mm circumference tubes.
The cleat part only is available as CL244/L.
The CL702 ia an alloy cleat, with a curved base, for fixing directly to a tube.
The CL243/S5 is a nylon cleat for clamping on to 20mm diameter poles.
Q: What size of rope should I use on my CL244/R cleat?
Ans: The size of rope used on the CL244/R is from 6mm.
Q: Does Clamcleat® make cleats for windsurfers?
Ans: Clamcleat® make a range of cleats for windsurfers including CL247 twin sheave cleat, CL248 cleat with hook and 3 sheaves, CL250 gap closer, CL253 trapeze cleat, CL708 Rivet-on fitting for 8:1 cleat and a range of boom cleat and clamp for booms from 20-43mm.
Q: What diameter of boom will the boom CL244 Boom cleat fit?
Ans: CL243/S5 = 20-21mm tube
CL244+CL105 = 30-32mm tube
CL244+CL111 = 32-35mm tube
CL244+CL115 = 35-37mm tube
CL244+CL134 = 42-43mm rube
CL265AN with stainless steel clamp = 25-31mm
Q: What can I use to tension my outhaul or downhaul?
Ans: Clamcleat® make a range of power grip cleats for hand tensioning the outhaul or downhaul. The power cleats include CL249 Tug cleat, CL261 power grip 1 (single hand) and the CL262 power grip 2 (two handed cleat) all for 3-6mm rope.
Q: Why does Clamcleat® not publish safe working loads (SWL) or break loads for its cleats?
Ans: The quality, type and style of the rope or cord plays a major role in the performance of the cleat. Normally the better the quality of the rope the greater holding power, also some cleats are designed to slip once they exceed the desired holding load as a safety feature including securing fabrics such as sunshades or covers.
Q: Do you get a better performance with an Aluminum cleat?
Ans: Aluminum cleats do not improve the performance of the cleat, but they can achieve higher holding loads and they also might improve the lifespan of the cleat especially if the rope will be in contact with the teeth whilst the rope is being pulled through during adjustment.
Q: What different coating are there for the Aluminum cleats?
Ans: The standard coating for the cleat is a Stoving Aluminum silver enamel coating. For extra protection from corrosion and a high-tech appearance the cleats are also available in a dark grey Hard anodized finish. The part no in suffixed with “AN” to identify the hard anodized finish.
Q: How long should an Aluminum cleat last?
Ans: This really depends on the usage, the quality and age of the rope used etc. so is very difficult to gauge. The ultraviolet rays will discolor the cleats over time and in very sunny climates may affect the life of the cleat. In extreme climates the life expectancy should be 10 -15 years depending on usage and in more moderate climate 20 + years.
Q: What type of rope or cord will give the best performance on my cleats?
Ans: In our experience a braided good quality rope gives you the best holding performance
Q: Is there any maintenance required to a cleat to keep it performing well?
Ans: We would recommend flushing the with fresh water as often are you can.
