A multi-support and multi-generational regatta

This second edition of the XPO Lasagna Cup kept all its promises despite a difficult date, a week after the Spi Ouest-France and in the middle of the school holidays. 36 boats registered, including 9 habitable, 10 light sailing and 17 DF65 for radio-controlled sailing, the teams being made up of a boat from each support. This regatta stems from a desire on the part of XPO to gather around a sporting and friendly event, all the media and all the generations whose common passion is sailing.

Perfect weather conditions

After the freezing cold of the first edition, the 71 sailors were able to appreciate the perfect conditions of this edition. A very windy Saturday with a wind set at 18 knots and gusts to 24 under a magnificent La Rochelle sun.

Sunday, initially announced very " petolous " offered us a beautiful day with a wind between 5 and 7 knots that allowed the lighter boats to express themselves

The contest of Lasagna and tiramisu for a convivial evening, decisive for the final victory.

On Saturday evening, the lasagna party brought together the 71 competitors and their entourage around the very popular Lasagna and Tiramisu competition chaired by the Italian restaurateur of reference in La Rochelle, MIRKO. A moment of good humor but which determined the winner of the XPO Lasagna Cup following the tie of 2 teams after 2 days of regatta.

A 3rd edition will therefore take place in 2024, hoping for a few more boats to continue this regatta whose goal is to bring together the actors of boating, whether professional or simple enthusiasts !!

Xavier PHELIPON (Founder and Director of XPO ): " I started sailing at the age of 8 in light sailing on Optimist and quickly found myself participating in regattas, then as I grew up I continued regattas in habitable sailing, and it was as a result of Covid that I started RC sailing with some of the same friends with along the way. who I had started racing at a very young age. 6 years ago I rediscovered the regatta in light sailing with my wife. I then realized that I no longer knew this world of light sailing at all, hence the idea of bringing together all these sailing practices on the same event with a friendly link between them. Nothing like a lasagna characterized by successive layers to symbolize this idea, and as the spirit of competition keeps us all in the stomach, the contest of the best lasagna was naturally imposed with that of Tiramisu. These competitions do not enter the general classification by teams but serve to decide between any ties. This was the case this year with the first 3. This second edition is both confirmation that this idea is shared by others in equal parts between light sail and habitable sail but that it still needs to mature.

The choice of a good date will be the success factor of the upcoming events. My desire on this type of test is not only to be able to exchange links between practitioners and generations of each of the media, but also to be able to embark on these other practices with those for whom it is usual. The organization of this event by La Rochelle Nautique makes it possible to discover these other practices by having at the disposal of participants (for rent) boats both in light sail and in habitable sail. These boats are quite efficient in the image of the winner of this edition, Team PADOVA consisting of a J80 from La Rochelle Nautique, a Finn and an owner's DF65.

XPO's investment in this event is fully in line with the complementarity of the products distributed in France. The equipment ANTAL, ALLEN, CLAMCLEAT, FURLERBOOM, PROTECT TAPES, SPRENGER, TYLASKA find their place on all boats in light sail or habitable. RC sailing is yet to be discovered... "
