The 21-boat Nacra 17 fleet raced a nine-race series with one discard. Due to a lack of wind, no final series was held. John and Anna dominated from the start. By the midpoint of the regatta, they had secured four race wins and a ten-point lead, never looking back.
“We are really happy to take the win at Kiel Week. We had plenty of light winds, which meant a lot of movement on the trapeze. It was exciting to be racing with the new titanium cleats—they're beautifully smooth to use and perfect for keeping the drag and weight down,” explained Anna Burnet, who, along with John Gimson, was the driving force behind developing the new CL290 Titanium Trapeze cleat.
The Clamcleat® CL290 Titanium Trapeze cleat and handle are designed for ultimate pro sailors. Engineered from titanium with no moving parts, this aerodynamic, lightweight trapeze cleat weighs only 21g and is just 46mm in length—reducing its size and weight by nearly 50% compared to conventional trapeze cleats. Designed for use with composite trapeze lines, the top section's halo ring design allows for extra grip, meaning sailors with strong hands may not even need the low-profile aerodynamic handle. For sailors who require extra surface area for a secure two-finger grip during constant adjustments, ergonomic handles are available. Aerodynamics were a critical part of the design, specifically optimizing airflow across both the side of the cleat when trapezing and the back of the cleat on the leeward side.
Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is abandoned plastic waste within 50 km of coastlines or waterways in areas with poor waste management. It accounts for about 80% of plastic marine litter and poses a high risk of entering the ocean.. OBP is collected and recycled into usable material. As our current stock of cards run low, we'll replace them with OBP material, identifiable by "Made from 100% recycled plastic". For more details on OBP material, please contact us.
The CL244/S9 clamp-on tube cleat fits 24 to 27mm tubes (1" tubes), perfect for Wingfoiling handle grips. It's easy to fit and features a strong aluminium cleat in a nylon clamp, secured by screws. A rubber friction packer ensures a firm grip and accommodates slight variations in tube diameter and oval tubes. Available in Silver or Hard coat finish, this addition expands the range to fit tube diameters from 24mm to 43mm.
The IODA by Birdyfish, manufactured in France, is a 3.2m single-person dinghy that foils at just 8 knots. It uses our CL211Mk1 to adjust the kicker, the CL222 for the tiller downhaul, and the CL211Mk2/S2 for the main outhaul.
The D-Zero by Devoti is a single-handed, lightweight 4.2m dinghy. It uses our CL828-68AN Aerocleat to adjust its toe strap from the dagger plate housing, making adjustments easier without shifting your weight too far aft
The Clamcleat® CL290 Titanium Trapeze cleat and handle are designed for the ultimate pro sailors. Made from Titanium Ti-6Al-4V with no moving parts. This aerodynamic, lightweight trapeze cleat weighs only 24g and is 53mm in length, reducing its size and weight by nearly 50% compared to conventional trapeze cleats. Designed for use with composite trapeze lines, the top section halo ring design allows for extra grip, so sailors with strong hands may not need the blue low-profile aerodynamic handle. Handles are available for sailors who require extra surface area to achieve a 2-finger grip for constant adjustment. The airflow across the side of the cleat when trapezing and the airflow across the back of the cleat on the leeward side are also very important and were critical parts of the design.
The Azimut 68 from Azimut/Benetti Group, made in Italy, uses the CL203 and the Keeper CL814 on the foredeck sun sail shade system. The cleats are used to tension the sunshade sail between the four carbon fiber poles. Once the system is in place, simply tension by pulling down the lines through the CL203 cleats.
The CL211 Mk2AN can be used with the CL815 keeper which allows the rope to run freely when out of the cleat and keeps it engaged when the rope is engaged . Ideal for spinnaker halyards and applications when you have a fast hoist or drop. For more information visit clamcleat.com.
The European packaging and packaging waste directive 94/62/EC addresses the problem of packaging waste. For some years, we have packed all our cleats in cardboard boxes that don't require staples or adhesive tape. The boxes are 100% recyclable and now display the compliant recycling symbol and weight. The boxes are also ideal for upcycling once empty. The material used on the blue retail cards is fully recyclable polypropylene and now displays the correct recycling symbol and weight. They are designed to hold cleats without using cable ties. Displaying the symbol and weight on each box and card allows the packaging to be managed and recycled more easily. This may take several months for the stock to filter through the supply chain. For a full list of our packaging materials, please contact [email protected].
