Clamcleat-CL250
Use the Clamcleat® CL250 as part of 6:1 advantage tensioning system. Ideal for windsurf downhauls and fitting to tubes. CL250 is manufactured from high pressure die-cast aluminium to give a light weight yet durable cleat. The rollers are manufactured from a composite plastic designed to withstand coral sand. The cleat's low profile means it is suitable for use with any sail type. It can also be fitted onto any mast extension using rivets or screws. The cleat offers a cost effectlive solution for acheiving a 6:1 ratio on a downhaul as it allows the sail, when tensioned, to reach the bottom of the mast.
For extra tension, use our CL261 Power Grip to help you pull twice as hard on the rope, compared to using your bare hands.
If you don't have strong hands, the CL262 Power Grip is a great way to double your pulling power.
An alternative to the CL250 is our rivet-on pulley block, CL708 which is ideal to use with the CL248 hook-on cleat incorporating pulley block.
Another way to have a 6:1 advantantage is to use the CL247.

Ans: Clamcleat® make a range of cleats for windsurfers including CL247 twin sheave cleat, CL248 cleat with hook and 3 sheaves, CL250 gap closer, CL253 trapeze cleat, CL708 Rivet-on fitting for 8:1 cleat and a range of boom cleat and clamp for booms from 20-43mm.

Ans: The CL250 will accept ropes from 3-5mm.
Q: What Clamcleat® cleat can be used on a windsurfer downhaul?
Ans: The CL250 cleat is designed to give you a 6:1 advantage when adding tension to your Windsurfer downhaul.
Q: How long should an Aluminum cleat last?
Ans: This really depends on the usage, the quality and age of the rope used etc. so is very difficult to gauge. The ultraviolet rays will discolor the cleats over time and in very sunny climates may affect the life of the cleat. In extreme climates the life expectancy should be 10 -15 years depending on usage and in more moderate climate 20 + years.
Q: What type of rope or cord will give the best performance on my cleats?
Ans: In our experience a braided good quality rope gives you the best holding performance.
Q: Is there any maintenance required to a cleat to keep it performing well?
Ans: We would recommend flushing the with fresh water as often are you can.
