As part of Clamcleats Ltd carbon reduction program we are helping to restock 10 hectares of woodland in Leicestershire. The trees will include a lot of native species including Hawthorn, Hazel, Hornbeam, Oak, Silver Birch, and Sycamore, which will help to create the perfect habitat for local wildlife. The site also will have public access and can be enjoyed by everybody as it develops into a mature woodland. Also working closely with carbon and sustainability experts Redshaw Advisors, and using several projects around the world, both from Verra Registry, Clamcleats Ltd has successfully compensated for the equivalent of its total operational carbon footprint, placing it in an operational carbon neutral position.“

We have also developed a Keeper and Cage to upgrade your CL211 Mk2AN retrospectively. The keeper CL815 allows the rope to run freely if out of the cleat and keeps the rope engaged if in the cleat. With festival season on full swing, it’s good to see the new CL282 Tie Down Cleat at Glastonbury. The cleat is ideal for tensioning guy ropes on small to medium size tents and tarps, easy to rig and tension in seconds. Designed for ropes from 1-3mm this lightweight ultra small Nylon cleat is fixed at one end with a strip or bar shackle, carbine hook or rope. Clamcleats Ltd takes delivery of a Boy XS mould machine which offers the most economical solution for some smaller moulding components with a maximum shot volume of 15.5cm³. During the development of our carbon reduction strategy, we realised matching the right size moulding to the right size machine is critical to maximise efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint. You don't need a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.

As part of Clamcleats Ltd's strategy on improving productivity and reducing our Carbon footprint, we have just upgraded 3 of our moulding machines, a 35, 50 and 100 tonne machines. The energy consumpton of all 3 machines is approx. 40% less than the ones we are replacing and will help to keep us on track to meet our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint by 5% each year.

Kayak Cross is a dynamic sport where the paddler’s connection to and therefore control of the boat is key to their success – with forces acting at various angles on the paddler during their run, and with them pushing hard on the kayak’s footrest to convert the power from each paddle stroke into acceleration of the boat. The backrest is a critical component which helps the paddler remain planted in the kayak’s seat and well connected to the rest of the outfitting system, even when launching off the 4m high ramp, or upside down in the roll zone. It is vitally important, therefore, that the paddler can easily adjust the backrest to their preference whilst sat in the kayak, and that this adjustment is reliably locked in for the whole race, without excessive weight being added to the boat as a result. The event took place on the 15-16 April at the La Rochelle Nautique and was masterminded by Xavier Phelipon (founder and director of XPO) our French distributor. The Lasagna Cup comprises of cruisers, sport boats, dinghies, RC sailing and a competition for who can cook the best Lasagna and tiramisu, all in one competition with a combined winner.
